I'll have to look at it again. Much of the build stuff is set up for one-time builds. Maybe there should be a rule (optional -- you run it if you need it) to generate implicit dependencies? The problem is how to create them automatically... 1) can't assume GNU make (for "include" in makefile) 2) can't assume gcc (for generating deps with "-M...") 3) can't assume makedepend (it's part of the X11 build tools and is even broken on some GNU/Linux distribs [it barfs on glibc headers] that haven't needed [or tried] to use it in years) I'll think about it.
