And stop calling me Shirley". --Leslie Nielsen -airplane- The way you declare a serious variable type in squeak is to write an instance message for the class Joking that does nothing when asked #surelyYouCantBeSerious and maybe another for the class Serious that tells you to stop calling it shirley. ;-) Then in any method needing a type check you just ask the variable the question and proceed.
