Ajax.InPlaceEditor questions / suggestions: msg#00105lang.ruby.rails.spinoffs
I just spent some time writing my own InPlaceEditor before discovering that it exists already! I like the simplicity of InPlaceEditor, but there were a couple of scenarios that my own home grown solution handled, but I can't figure out how to make InPlaceEditor do the same thing: 1) I have a scenario where I'd like to start out in edit mode. In my case you double click on another element on the page to add a new item to a list. That item's text defaults to "new item", but I'd like to drop into edit mode to force the user to change this value. This way I save them a click on the new item to enter edit mode. 2) I'd like to change the HTML for the OK and cancel elements in the edit mode. I can't see a way to modify the HTML of the editor form other than just changing the captions of those two elements.
