I broke down and added a keypair to try and get it working for the
time-being.
I'm using a :deploy_via of :copy

It works occasionally now, but more often than not, hangs when trying
to upload the tarball:

  uploading data to toad:/tmp/20071117230038.tar.gz

Looking in /tmp, it usually hangs at either zero bytes or 65k.

I made sure I have the latest Capistrano and Net::SSH gems installed:

  $ gem list  | egrep 'capis|ssh'
  capistrano (2.1.0, 2.0.0, 1.4.1)
  net-ssh (1.1.2)

The dev machine is running Ubuntu. The target deployment machine is
CentOS 4.5.
Both are using Ruby 1.8.5.
