Don't know whether this will help, but ... I now live in Mexico and transfer money from dollars to pesos regularly. The absolute best rate available (1% over interbank rate) seems to be a credit card purchase or ATM withdrawal from a bank account. Money sent via wire transfer from a bank in the US to a bank in Mexico runs about 1.5% as nearly as I can calculate it. This is only useful if the transfer is big enough to justify the cost of the transfer. My bank charges $15.
