Hmmm...somehow I'm not able to update cvs anymore. But anyway, I 
downloaded a cvs snapshot from the site, compiled it and

perl -MWx -e"$s = Wx::Sound->new('ding.wav'); $s->Play(wxSOUND_SYNC) if 
$s->IsOk;"


does what you'd expect :)
