I'm sorry if I'm being a dummy here, but I have wasted a lot of time trying to
figure this out for myself... I would be *really* grateful if someone could
offer some ideas on these two questions please:
First off, I want to create a simple dialog box with menus and a few controls
visible, such as a couple of text boxes, buttons, etc. However, I think I need
to derive a main class from Wx::Frame rather than Wx::Dialog in order to add
menus? The problem is that now all my controls are against a dark grey default
background of the wx::Frame control and look extremely wierd.
Now, what is the easiest solution to work around this? Can the background be
changed so that it looks light grey? (Does this work when people have played
with themes, and what is the correct colour anyway? I tried "light grey" and
this is not even close).
Should I put the whole lot in a Panel perhaps? This might work, but I
originally used wxDesigner to knock up my dialog and the autogenerated code
seems to want something of type wxWindow to insert it's controls into, and
isn't happy with a Panel control. Has anyone played with WxDesigner, it seems
like a shame to have to abandon it or continuously patch the output in order to
achieve the required effect?
Any suggestions?
My second problem is that I want to put a neat outline box around a group of
controls, like that offered by the static box sizer. However, I want it to
expand in both horizontal and vertical directions... It seems that the static
box sizer comes in either horizontal OR vertical, but not both? Is there a
suggested way to work around this?
Thanks for any thoughts.
