What do you mean by "bad colours" - wrong shade of colour or
grossly wrong hue?

Don't ActiveState do a JPEG PPM ?

I seem to recall some problems with Photo on graphics cards in 16-bit
modes on Win32.

Unlikely that perl version will make any difference.
New Tk might.

5.8.2 and 5.8.1 differ very little.
5.8.2 restores binary compatibility with 5.8.0 while retaining
binary compatibility with 5.8.1 - mainly in area of
"randomized hash keys". If I recall correctly ActiveState don't
turn on that option anyway.

That said this may be a binary compatibility issue - your Tk version
should be for the perl you are using.

That looks fine on Tk804.025_beta13+ and Linux - which helps you
not at all ;-)
