Charles,
I just picked up an AlphaServer 800 4/500 with 256mb
of ram on Ebay for $120 (no disks, no software). But,
it had all 4 of the drive slides in there, so for
about $175 each, I can buy a 36GB Seagate Cheatah
LC style 10krpm Ultra320 Scsi disk drive (it will
take 4, and the 72gb drives work as well); and memory
(up to 2 GB for sure) is also available at less than
$600/mb, if you really want to go for a king-size
system. I did have to change the console to SRM (I'm
sure it was an NT machine) and install the latest
firmware (downloadable from the hp website).
I also had to find a random Plextor SCSI CDrom and
an old floppy drive (don't know if that will work,
but I shouldn't need it).
