When I run it through tpage, I see the error on line 2, as expected.
However, if you remove the post-chomp flag, then it does appear to 
produce the unexpected result.

[%- 1 %]
[%- 1 %]
[%- 1 %]
[%- 1 %]
[%- END %]

Although here it gets reported at line 1 instead of line 5.

Anyway, it's clear there's a problem and the patch fixes it, so it's
applied.
