Subject: Re[2]: Styled Text Widgets
Hello Rick,

(please fogive me if this comes through as a duplicate, at this time
my original messages doesn't appear to have made it to the list)

RM> Here's my plans for comment by everyone. Please can I have comments

I think this component would be an essential part of PDF creation, and
I'd like to get my hands on alpha/beta copies to kick around. :)

RM> underline not supported (but will be)

What about underline_style for future enhancements down the road.
Possible values could be things like: single solid, single dotted,
single dashed, double solid, etc.

RM> Planned rendering options:
RM> columns number of text columns in the render
RM> gutter space between columns

I can also see this working well with a "table" widget.

Forgive me if these suggestions are better handled elsewhere, I'm new
to using PDF::API2 and I could be speaking out of ignorance here:

How is text that doesn't all fit into the render area handled? Do you
envision a return of the text that doesn't fit and maybe some
'auto-scale-to-fit' option? I could see a callback on what to do if
text doesn't fit. The callback could be written to scale text, or
auto-extend the height of the region (keeping in mind page boundaries)
or whatever a person wanted to write the callback to do. Anyhow, it's
just some random thoughts.

Another thought for the markup language - What about hyperlinks to
other locations in the document, or web sites?

RM> Planned features:
RM> Stylesheets:

Cool, that would also work well for the appearance of hyperlinks, if
implemented.

RM> Hmmm .. I'm in a production environment, but I can take a look at 0.4.
RM> It will just not be released as quick.

I have .40x installed, so if you need I can help with testing or
authoring things.
