That's what I was referring to by the (working) name dEx (Dependency

Duh. Apologies.
I guess I sort of took it upon my self to shift priorities a while
back. There was a much discusion about getting ready to integrate into
core, and I haven't been as productive at getting stuff done as I
would wish. So I figured dEx is much less lower priority than some
other issues like recursive builds.
Yes, perhaps so.
Also there has been hints in other discussions that it might not be
widely accepted. This is more impression than anythng else. But for
dEx to be of any use, it will need support from CPAN and CPANPLUS. And
the requirements do not at all translate well to other package
managers like deb, rpm, ppm, etc.
Well, I didn't get the impression that it wouldn't be accepted,
especially if it's more or less backwards compatible with
Module::Build's current interface for this sort of thing. Don't CPAN
and CPANPLUS just call a method on the build object and get back true
or false?
I don't want to scrap it. I plan on completing it, but I do think
there will be some big hurdles getting it accepted. I'll return to it
as soon recursive builds are complete.
Cool, thanks.
Of course, any help is welcome. There is still some work to be done on
the backend classes which form the expressions.
Frankly, this is way over my head, esp. with the number of other things
on my plate at the moment...
Cheers,
David
