If I understand correctly though, it's the only common tool (that we
know about so far) that doesn't support the MAKEFLAGS macro. I was
hoping to use MAKEFLAGS to avoid listing "all macros we care about"
explicitly, and to get all the data in one variable rather than spread
out over lots of environment variables.
