New dmake on CPAN: msg#00007

Subject: New dmake on CPAN
[Re-send. First post didn't seem to come through.]

In reply to Schwern's request for the current dmake to be built and
placed on CPAN (http://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.makemaker/1987), I
have now done exactly that:

http://search.cpan.org/~shay/dmake-4.3-20050307-SHAY/

This build is based on the latest CVS sources (currently version 4.3)
and incorporates all the fixes that were in Sarathy's version that I
think are still relevant. Please let me know if I have missed anything
important. A patch file is included in the ZIP file so that people can
see what changes I have made (as required by dmake's license terms).
This version identifies itself (via "dmake -V") as "Version
4.3-20050307-SHAY" so that there is no ambiguity with unmodified
dmake-4.3's.

Using this dmake, I have successfully built bleadperl and a small sample
of CPAN modules. Note that perl-5.8.6 and earlier won't build with it,
and neither will maint-5.8 until change 23991
(http://public.activestate.com/cgi-bin/perlbrowse?patch=23991) is applied.

- Steve
