It really shouldn't be that hard to write a one mode C::A that would
randomly pick an ad and send it to the browser. If you use mod_rewrite
(or mod_perl) you can even make anyone looking at the source think it's
just a normal jpg.

It gets a little more complicated than that. I use phpAdsNew, too and I love it's management, where you can assign start/end dates, "zones", weights, max # of impressions or click-throughs, etc.

But yeah, the tradeoff being when you're working in HTML::Template, you'll have to invoke it in JavaScript or using the img src="...php?..." trick. And then you can only have ONE ad per page (otherwise, the click-through doesn't work properly -- maybe they fixed it).

Anyway, don't want to dump on you, Michael, but while it's easy to grab a random ad, that's usually just the tip of the iceberg. At least, that's been my experience.
