CPAN failure: msg#00003

New Perl installation (Fedora 7). Installed the CPAN bundle, many other modules. Now, for no apparent reason, CPAN (and CPANPLUS) fails: Going to read /root/.cpan/sources/modules/02packages.details.txt.gz Undefined subroutine &Compress::Zlib::gzopen called at /usr/lib/ perl5/5.8.8/CPAN.pm line 5721. Nothing wrong with the code. Compress::Zip and Compress::Raw::Zlib are installed. Any suggestions?
