Sounds like you caught them squarely in the middle of an update. The
announcement was posted at <http://use.perl.org> yesterday afternoon,
saying that 5.8.6 was released on the 29th. They probably posted the
file a bit earlier though, and gave it time to work its way to all the
mirror sites before making the announcement.
