First off, thanks go to Mercutio and Terje for this contest, which would
have been a lot more fun if I had a better score :)

Thanks, I think Terje had been planning a cipher hole for a while, we just convinced him to go for the Vigenere as it happens to be realively simple to implement, and therefore hopefullly lots of variety in the solutions (well, the top solutions were very different from mine anyway :D)

Been considering another hole in which the idea is to crack the Vigenere cipher, but it may be a fairly lengthy task, and possibly not suitable for golfing, but I'd be interested to hear what you lot think of that.

I also was surprised by Ton's post-mortem only appearance. This is the
second time he has added his score just after the contest. The
good-sport policy of posting scores early is intended to keep players
from purposely holding out to surprise the others. However, if you don't
actually *have* a score until near the end there is no holding out
involved. So please post if you have a good score and the contest is
still going on. Unless I'm in the lead, that is :)

Ah, well he was just showing that a better score could be had by mixing the top two solutions, unfortunately mtve posted it at the same time... Looking at the playerlist, it seems ton may be about to lose his top spot :)

There were not a lot of different approaches here, but there were some
interesting tricks (that I missed).

1) Using $& in a y/// replace
2) /\pL/ instead of /[A-Z]/ (I don't have 5.8, and I don't get this)
3) uc<> on the way in.
4) Using vec is always a trick to me :)
5) Jasper's neat use of $#a to keep $&th element of A-Z
6) Auto split to @_ (I forgot about this one too)
7) INIT{} which jinx just learned about

Must admit to being very intruiged by the use of $^H amongst others

Congrats also go to jinx on a nice first round and to Mercutio for his
late surge up the leaderboard to capture some extra points on his puzzle!

The boy done good all right :)

See y'all next round!
