I see the 'merging' way as a bad choice. Yes, _if_ the authors agree, and _if_ they can share stuff. Normally, they are mostly concerned with their own thing (is it this just me? ;).

The way to harmonize this (imho) is just to go forward and enforce some variant by plain using it. Like LuaCheia does.

Ther really sane thing to do might be to see if one can merge with LuaSQL (a SQLite driver) in some way. But then there is also Aranha's LuaDBI or some such....
