Jython on a PDA: msg#00082

Subject: Jython on a PDA

Hello everybody, I'm new to this list and I hope all of you are good.

I have just downloaded jython-21 and installed on my laptop and my PDA. With the first, everything went smoothly with no problems. I have jdk1.5 installed and I tried some modification on some Demo-programs with nice results.
On the PDA (Zaurus-6000) where I do quite a lot of Java programming, I have jdk1.1.8 installed and a special package for Swing. Usually everything runs o.k. and I'm very happy with my Java installation. Nevertheless, I was unable to launch Jython. When I try it I receive an strange message telling me that the Class: "java/lang/Thread" is not found. It surprised me as I haven't had a trouble with usual (some, quite long and complicated) Java programs. I decided to verify this and I unzipped my "classes.zip" on jdk1.1.8/lib. When I looked under the directory "java/lang" there was an splendid "Thread.class".
As this is my first approach to Jython (and Python, btw), I have no idea what can all that be. I've done exactly the same steps that before on the laptop where everything went o.k. I put "jython.jar" on my CLASSPATH and the directory jython-2.1 in my PATH.
The PDA runs under Debian-Linux. Its micro is an Arm, Xscale. Usually, everything compiled in other x86 machines for Java, runs o.k. and the same for what I compile in the PDA.

I will be merciful if anyone could give me some hint on the solving of my problem.

Best regards to all

Santiago Muelas
