socket timeouts

Hi All,

Is there a way to implement socket timeouts in Jython using the standard 
Jython 2.1 socket module?
Google pointed me to this site http://xhaus.com/alan/python/jynio/ but 
it seems like an implementation discussion rather that a solution.
