Subject: Re: Jython parser (future)

Hi Didier... well, if you didn't find it, I guess I have to make the homepage a little better :-)

Anyway, yes, it is a plugin for editing python code in Eclipse.

Currently it is related to jython solely because it uses the same parser jython uses (for code completion, outline, and other things that need the AST and that's why I'm asking about the parser...)

Also, in the future, I intend to allow jython editing too (I think you could already do that, but you would miss the code completion builtins, running capabilities and some other goodies).

(I'm sending it to the list because maybe others had the same doubt...)

Hi Fabio,

What is PyDev exactly? I don't see any description there.
Is it an Eclipse Plugin to edit Python code? How related with Jython?

Sorry if I didn't find this info on the web site.

Hi All,

I'm currently developing Pydev (http://pydev.sf.net) and I'm using the same structure you guys use for jython (copied and pasted...) and I'm thinking about how to advance it to support changes in the grammar. I did some experiments and posted them on (http://pydev.blogspot.com/), and I'm writing because I would like to hear your opinions, and how the jython team is planning to evolve its structure.

Cheers,

Fabio
