RE: status of Jython? (Brian Durney): msg#00041lang.jython.devel
It seems this subject comes up occasionally, and I really don't know the answer either; However, I will say this..... My motivation for using Jython stems from wanting to convert a windows based application to a cross platform type. The selection of Jython for this project made a lot of sense, as Java's swing compenents were loaded with great features. I could not find similar widget support in any other gui library for Python. My app can now run on any machine with java RE, and could be ported to run from a web browser if that is appropriate in the future. I did find that Jython was easier to get up and running than some of the other GUIs that were available for Python. Overall, from my small app, the Jython environment made a lot of sense and worked well. -Daryl http://home.earthlink.net/~jamgotchian/Bits/ ------------------------------------------------------- The SF.Net email is sponsored by EclipseCon 2004 Premiere Conference on Open Tools Development and Integration See the breadth of Eclipse activity.
