Chris and Oleg, Yes, curl was the problem. I hesitated to make the fix at first when Chris suggested curl, because I knew I had used wget. But as Oleg suggested, the newer update wanted me to use curl with the parameters Chris gave. Pacman is back for me. Thank you.
