It's true; see FAQ #2: http://www.haskell.org/ghc/docs/latest/html/users_guide/faq.html We've never addressed binary compatibility between versions. GHC's aggressive cross-module optimisation makes it a little tricky. I would like to see us do something in this direction, though. Cheers, Simon
