Platform: Mandrake, linux kernel version 2.4.27-xena-1

This one has a good workaround: leave off the -g flag 
when compiling C for use with ghci.

$ echo "int hello(){}" > hello.c
$ gcc -g -c hello.c
$ ghci hello.o 
   ___         ___ _
  / _ \ /\  /\/ __(_)
 / /_\// /_/ / /  | |      GHC Interactive, version 6.2.1, 
for Haskell 98.
/ /_\/ __  / /___| |      http://www.haskell.org/ghc/
