yes I get the exact same error
I have Linux mandrake 10.0 OE
Hugs works just fine for me but ghc is a no go zone
ghc wont even compile programs that I know work

Could you give us any more information?  This doesn't happen
for us (clearly).   The subject of your bug report isn't
particularly helpful.

More information: what OS? How did you install GHC?  Does
the command-line compiler work?
