Subject: problems with 6-2-branch

Dear GHC team,

It occurs problematic for me to build correct cvs ghc-6-2-brach.

Now, I have built cvs ghc-6-2-branch first in
/home/mechvel/ghc/cvs/6-2-branch/inst
,
then, after cd fptools
make clean

rebuild ghc-6-2-branch by /home/mechvel/ghc/cvs/6-2-branch/inst/bin
,
installed it to /home/mechvel/ghc/cvs/6-2-branch/inst2/bin
,
erased all ghc except /home/mechvel/ghc/cvs/6-2-branch/inst2/bin
,
tested: > which ghc
/home/mechvel/ghc/cvs/6-2-branch/inst2/bin/ghc
> which ghci
/home/mechvel/ghc/cvs/6-2-branch/inst2/bin/ghci
>
,
`made' DoCon by the Makefile containing
ghc = /home/mechvel/ghc/cvs/6-2-branch/inst2/bin/ghc
...

`made' the test T_ by > ghc $pcpdocon --make T_
,

run the test by > ghci $pcpdocon T_
and got
...
[True,ghc-6.2.1: internal error: scavenge:
unimplemented/strange closure type 64 @ 0x404033f0
Please report this as a bug to glasgow-haskell-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxx,

Now there is no doubt that in this latter test ghc and ghci are
of the same place.

And it looks like you cannot reproduce the effect.

Maybe, this is system specific?
Have you tried this on Debian linux or RedHat linux?

Maybe, you can provide me with correct ghc-6-2-branch-binary ?

One is for Debian Linux .. 2.4.25 #2 Mon Apr 26 .. 2004 i686 unknown,
libc-2.2.5.so
(once ghc-6.2.1-binary was installled there).

Another -- for RedHat linux 9, libc-2.3.2.so.

----------
Another question:
how to build ghc-6-2-branch from source
without using pre-installed GHC
(as to Alex and Happy, OK, I think, let them be pre-installed)
and to install it into my user chosen directory
?
I tried `make' from various places, and it says
"you have not run ./configure".
And "./configure" searches for ghc installed, for Happy.

I am sorry, can you tell me precisely what to do?

With kind regards,

-----------------
