Summary: GHC 5.04 build fail on Mandrake 9.0

Initial Comment:
I try to compile GHC 5.04.1 on Mandrake 9.0 using 
the preinstalled GHC 5.02.2, glibc 2.5.5, gcc 3.2.

The build process aborts with:
