Hi,
I start testing some firewire device and I am very confused because
cannot found any working device :-(.
I have:
1) external 2.5" enclosure with disk and Prolific chipset
I must flash new firmware to get this work with 2.6.x and now with
2.6.17 works
2) I buy Asus DVD writer DWS-1608 it is developed with Prolific
bridge but I can't bur any DVD (CD works) after writhing 30% of DVD
drive hangs and I get lot of aborting sbp2 commands an bus reset but
nothing helps. I upgrade firmware to 1.39 and after this I can't not
even read DVD or CD :-(. Downgrade little helps. I test
cdrecodrd-ProDVD, dvdrecord, growisofs
3) I buy new external enclosure with Aegree chipset identified as
GENESYS LOGIC, INC. I install in this case LG dual layer burner and I
burn some DVD, but if I mount it and try read content a get lot of
aborting commands. If I install disk situation is the same lot of
abort errors and write speed slow down.
My enclosure with 2.5" disk and Asus DVD Ram I test on my Sun E250
too and still the same problems.
Have anybody the same experience ? I use vanila kernel 2.6.16-18.
