If you know the register map of the camera you can use libdc1394
register access functions to directly talk to the camera. Capture should
be OK provided that you can get the video mode characteristics from the
camera (packets per frame,...). I did that some time ago for an ISG
line-scan camera and it worked. It was painful though...
