Ximian has a strongest possible foothold at Novell already and is pretty much lobbying to have KDE sidelined: the default desktop on SUSE will likely be changed and developers/ISVs are to be discouraged from targetting the KDE development platform. Have they made any arrangements at all with Novell to make sure that KDE is not sidelined in the above manner? Maybe we can encourage SUSE to exert some pressure from their end.
