I already checked all the (more or less) obvious things, that's
not the problem (otherwise I wouldn't have posted).  It must be
some setting in KDE or Xwindows, maybe together with the laptop.
But interesting is, that the screen blanks out exactly after the
time which is set at the screensaver page, it's only the screensaver
itself which doesn't appear then.
