What do you need that size for?
I think yo can obtain it with QApplication::desktop() which will return a 
QDesktopWidget, which in turn can be queried for the size 
(availableGeometry)

If you just  want your app to be maximized, you can call showMaximized() 
on your main widget.

Anyway, please post development questions on kde-devel.
There you'll get answers more likely.
