Hello,

About my first problem: It looks that it's not what I thought before the
problem is that I just can't mount an ext2 floppy as regular user.
The line in /etc/fstab is:
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto
user,iocharset=iso8859-1,umask=0,sync,exec,codepage=850,noauto 0 0
As root I can do it only if I sepcify both device and mount point
mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy/

You are correct, this does NOT make sense. I don't know if you need all of that stuff, but you have the filesystem set to: "auto" and you have: "user" in the parameter list. So, a user account should be able to mount a floppy with any standard file system.

You could change the parameters to those in my previous posting and see if that helps.

My second problem (a very strange one) is that is I use the icon on my
desktop in order to mount the floppy I get the konqueror trying to open
the URL:
http://navigation.realnames.com/resolver.dll?action=navigation ...
I'm showing only the beginning because it is a very long one.

I would take a wild guess that the "*.desktop" for that icon is wrong.

Can you right click it and select: "Open With..." and then select an editor? It should look like this:

[Desktop Entry]
Dev=/dev/fd0
FSType=default
Icon=3floppy_mount
MountPoint=/mnt/floppy
ReadOnly=false
Type=FSDevice
UnmountIcon=3floppy_unmount

Check first the "Type=".

I think that you have, perhaps, a URL format: "*.desktop" file.
