I use the sidebar to open files from FTP, and I have no problems. I can confirm 
the problem when dropping a file from konqueror from non-anonymous FTP, and the 
same error seems to happen with anonymous FTP.

Odd, since no matter how a file is opened, the request should end in 
KateDocument::openURL()
