Setting filter in open/save dialog: msg#00215kde-usability
Hi, Filter -- when you try to open a file in Kile and you would like to change "text files" into "all files". I just realized that in order to do so, you have to click on an object (combobox drop button "v") which is ~ 40 times smaller than entire filter box. I rarely use custom filters, and I guess weekend-users don't use them at all, only predefined. In such case instead using a huge "button" (entire area of filter box) user has to hunt down tiny widgets ("v"). Not good. Some possibilities: a) combobox + editbox, when user chooses "custom filter" the editbox content can be changed, for other filters types, the definitions of the filters are displayed in the editbox b) something like url navigator box, normally combobox does not allow editing, but when extra switch button is clicked, combobox changes itself into editbox, click on switch again --> combobox c) extra entry in the list "custom filter" which changes drop down combobox into editbox combobox (like now) d) ? So far I like (c) the most. Your thoughts, ideas?
