krdc ui, looking for solutions: msg#00196

Subject: krdc ui, looking for solutions

Hi, I've been slowly hacking at the gui of krdc, I've been in communication with Urs too.  I have a pending patch that will allow switching connections in fullscreen.  I have one version that works, but isn't very good for code clarity/cleanliness and another that I would love to use but requires some cleanup of the current gui code.  After some of the cleanups we may be close to things like detachable or re-orderable tabs.

Anyway, after looking at things a bit and thinking, many of the problems come from having the "Start Page" and "Zeroconf Page" in the same tabwidget as the remote connections.  Those really belong on the same level as the quicklinks dockwidget and the "Remote Connections" tabwidget itself.

So my question is how do I group four things together if one of them is a tabwidget already?

Normally, I would put them in a tabwidget, but since one of them is a tabwidget this would leave us with two tabwidgets and a loss of screen real estate.  Also, all elements except the remote connections tabwidget are optional and can be turned off by the user.

Thanks for any suggestions or ideas.

Tony Murray
