How to snapshot a menu?

Hi,

I'm currently writing the users manual for my application and want to show 
parts of opened menus. But it seems not possible to make a snap shot of an 
open menu. Is there a way to do that?

BTW: KDE3 had the possibility to detach a menu from the application, so that 
the menu was a window of its own. This seems not possible with KDE4 any more.
