Hi Frej,
the only thing you're missing is that the Outlook plugin currently synchronize PIM data only, not email :) It's an interesting feature to add ;)
For [problem 3], you must enable the option multiuser and use different users to log on the server. The 3.0 plugin does not suport the same user on different machines, this limitation will be overcome in the upcoming release.

Cheers,
Andrea

2007/1/22, Frej Fentisen Eriksson < fentisen@xxxxxxxxx>:Hi,

First of all i want to say that Funambol seems to be a really interesting and great application. I am really looking forward to get this working. Keep in mind that iam unfamiliar with Funambol and mobile mail sync. So i might have missed some fundamental step or requirement.

I have a mailsystem running postfix and dovecot on Debian. I use IMAP4 to sync to Outlook. Now i want to use Funambol so i can sync mail with cellphones, i also want to start storing contacts and calendar events and of course sync them. Up until now it has only been mail.
So i decided to install Funambol latest stable version. The installation was smooth, i logged in and made some changes to the contacts and calendar just for the sake of fun. I installed the admin tools and connected to my funambol server, it was no problems. I configured the server to sync mail. I have used this, DS Server Administration Guide, document as a guideline.
Since i do not have any kind of sync client in my own cellphone i decided to use outlook-sync-plugin to test the synchronisation. Outlook is set up with my account on the mailserver. I used the same settings for outlook-sync. Authtentication went fine. It downloads the contacts and calendar items. But mail is not synced [Problem 1]. I can not find any errors in funambol logs or mail logs. I am quite sure that authtentication works since if i specify a  non-existing  username  then i get auth errors in funambol log and of course in mail logs.
There is also a problem[2] with the contacts and calendar sync. In outlook the only IMAP folders i have is inbox and junk-mail. No calendar or contacts there, they appear under my Personal Folders Contacts/Calendar and that might be the way it works? This might not be a problem for the cellphones? Iam going to try sync with a cellphone tomorrow. Is there any IMAP server for linux that handles "special folders"?
[Problem 3] Lets assume that everything is working. How do i proceed so that when someone is syncing they only recieve their personal contacts / calendar entries. At the moment everyone gets the same info. I guess that i need some were to store them, what alternatives are available? And some other application to handle the contacts/calendars instead of funambol/pimweb.
Can the authentication be handled by the mailserver, since its handling the authentication at the moment if i got the picture right. Maybe the solution is a IMAP server that can handle "special folders"? Or is there any other alternative, maybe some webmail system to handle it all and use funambol to sync the data?

I will be very happy for any response and help provided! If you want additional information about my setup just ask and i will provide.

Regards
Frej Eriksson

Re: Funambol Outlook client and GooSync: problems with SourceRef / TargetRef?

Hi Patrick, it seems not working with Funambol Outlook plugin 3.0 - the name "Calendar" is correct, the message sent seems also correct. Maybe it's not working because the devinfo was not supported in the 3.0 client. I just tried with the new version of Outlook plugin (v6) and I can synchronize correctly - even if the Goosync effectively adds only 1 appointment each time. Probably the new Outlook plugin v6 (pre-alpha version) will be available to be downloaded in the next days. Re: Funambol Outlook client and GooSync: problems with SourceRef / TargetRef?

Hi, Thanks for the detailed response. I've got one question about your tests: were you able to reproduce the problem that I had, or is your response based on an understanding of the log that I sent? I'm just wondering how likely it is that your environment matches mine. Also, is there a pre-built snapshot of v6 somewhere that I could try out? -Patrick On 1/26/07, Andrea Toccalini <toccalini@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Hi Patrick, > > it seems not working with Funambol Outlook plugin 3.0 - the name > "Calendar" is correct, the message sent seems also correct.
