Re: Push Registry Problems
That is what I thought initially, but then my application failed to
install on both Samsung E310 and Sagem myV-75 when I compiled with Sun
Java Studio Mobility 6. Then I retried the compilation - packaging
process with kToolbar and I managed to install it as untrusted on the
SAGEM but the Samsung fails with "Install Error - Authentication
Fail"...
At the moment I am in the process of trying out a Nokia 3220 and a SAGEM
myV-65. I will let the list know the results in a while...

Fotis-
Most handsets mainly support "untrusted domains"; your MIDlet should
install
OK, and the AMS will ask for user confirmation before allowing access to
protected resources.
Just curious, what was the authentication error that you encountered?
And
how did you work around it?
About signing, the short answer is that you must buy a PKI public key
certificate from a CA indicated by the handset provider (typically the
carrier). This CA is the issuer for the root cert that is on the device.
Very likely that to get this info you have to go through a
carrier-specific
verification process, but in theory it doesn't have to be that way.

Re: Code Points supported by a font
Stephen Johnson wrote:
Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to determine which Unicode code points a
particular font supports with MIDP? Some phones support the code points
00A1 to 00FF and others do not. I would like to use these accented
characters on the phones that support them and not use them on the phones
that do not support them.
I don't think there is. In theory looking at the charset encoding
property should tell you, but this is not always reliable.
See my most recent blog entry:

In a nutshell, if you must have support for certain characters on a wide
range of phones, you have to use custom fonts - not to mention the
layout problems.

Philips 355
Hi.
Does anyone here have any experience with porting to Philips 355? I'm
trying to port some game to this device, with little or no success at all.
Most of the time I'm getting installation errors like "compilation
failed - 61" or "jar file invalid - 36" with no further details. There's
no apparent patern to this behaviour. This lefts me completely puzzled.
Philips 355 has Esmertec JVM.
Could anyone help?
Regards,
Janusz Gregorczyk
