Ah, the Nextel probably doesn't implement monospaced fonts then. So you've
tried PROPORTIONAL and MONOSPACED... Have you used the SYSTEM font yet?

To make your own, get the courier font set, or some set that you have
licensed (not sure about licensing issues with fonts), and put it onto a
two-colour png image (you could probably cram this into a 1-2Kb file or so)
using some sort of regular spacing (i.e. 8x10 pixels per character) to make
sure they are monospaced. Then build a wrapper class that will set the clip
area and draw several characters depending on the String that you feed into
it.
