SISC 1.8.2-alpha is at long last released on the website. This release
addresses bug fixes and design flaws from the API of 1.8.1. This should
be the last alpha release. I expect to find minor bugs at this point,
which will lead to a beta and then to release candidates in the next
month. See the 1.8.1 and 1.8.0 notices for what is new in the 1.8
series over the current stable release.
In addition, we are now packaging the HTML build of SSS into the full
release, so that you will always have appropriate docs for any given
release. The manual itself has been updated to complete documentation
of the new type system and S2J.
* Improved SLIB operating system detection
* Fix circular data support in error messages.
* Fix Stack Overflow error when building in Windows under JDK1.4.2
* Fix library loading performance problems.
* Fix problems with redefinition of core forms breaking the optimizer.
* Allow optional port for |char-ready?| per the standard.
* Change open-{serial,binary}-{input,output}-port to respect the
current URL.
* Fix overriding of defaults from configuration parameters.
* Improved S2J class name mangling to handle default package
and nested classes.
* Changed class precedence list computation algorithm in the OO
system to resolve most precedence inconsistencies.
Enjoy!
