Are you testing outside? If the GPS doesn't have a lock, you may get

My door's been open all afternoon - it's chilly inside, but I had 12
satellites,
3-4 with a good S/N ratio, and a 2D fix.
What model of GPS device are you using? I've had luck with a wide
variety of GPS devices with Place Lab, but it is conceivable that not
all devices report the GGA and RMA sentences that Place Lab
requires. I also have run into GPS devices that need to be in the
correct mode in order to send standard NMEA sentences.
In GPSEcho, I see GGA and RMC sentences, no RSA as yet. I use a
USB-powered Haicom 202E.
I have a feeling I may be misinterpreting the Placelab architecture. It is
a little strange that the PlacelabStumblerGUI works OK on Win32,
while neither the standard ServletExample nor my modified version
produces any position estimate.
