Place Lab Info.

I've got two questions concerning Place Lab

 

1)       Are there any projects which actually use the software with
published papers, I've noticed on the website that there are a list of
Projects, but when I've read those papers there is no mention of Place Lab
within the papers, leading me to think that they are only associated
projects rather than projects which make use of the Place Lab API?

 

2)       Secondly, does the native stumbler code work in passive or active
scanning mode?
