sometimes hangs during gsm stumbling

hi,
when stumbling for gsm signals every second sometimes i'll stop
getting any gsm readings.. only after i restart the stumbler will i
continue to pick up readings. this seems to happen only when the phone
picks up a new cellid. is this a known issue?

im thinking it might be due to the fact that im using a non symbian phone.
