Perhaps not - but an upgrade is a good thing to do anyway, as several security 
problmes (DOS related)
have been fixed since that release.

Definitely.  How to do it depends a bit on what version of SESM you are using.
But I thought Cisco provided support and documentation for precompilation - as 
they precompile
many of their own JSPs.   The process is to basically just run 
org.apache.jasper.JspC
on the webapplication, compile the resulting java files and include the web.xml 
snippet.
