Correct, maybe a light UDP bridge. Andrea, I would investigate on serial devices: You are probably using IBM comm-api for linux. That libraries, like SUN version, are very old and they were never upgraded (such a shame). Try to run (if possible) only the application layer that uses the serial ports without the web server and see if you are still experiencing the freezing.
