JGroups over WAN

Is there any detailed information on "Extensions for Peer-To-Peer (P2P): G2G 
(Group-To-Group)" project?
 
I looked into the mailing list, but it seems like there is not much traffic 
related to JGroups being used in WAN environments.
 
Comments? Thoughts?
