getting numbers out of gel lane plots: msg#00278java.imagej
Dear ImageJ experts - Does anyone know how to export the numbers behind the plots ImageJ produces from the PLOT LANES gel command? Some context: I'm trying to use ImageJ to process still images as part of a video camera-based spectrometer. The camera looks at the light dispersed by a compact disc (i.e., the rainbow for white light). From these images I use the PLOT LANES feature in ImageJ to produce plots of light intensity vs. position on the CD. This works well for getting quick spectra, but I'd really like to get a list of the numbers that ImageJ uses to make these plots for subsequent processing - to produce an absorption spectrum, for example, or for superposing / scaling several different spectra. The TOOLS/SAVE X-Y COORDINATES function produces a list of the pixel coordinates and their 8-bit intensities (pretty much 0 or 255 since it's a line drawing). I could process this list to get what I want, but this seems crazy since ImageJ must have already calculated these numbers to make the plots in the first place. Is there a way? Thanks!
